Editorial standards
How we keep it honest.
Aminodex exists to explain the published research as accurately and plainly as we can. These are the rules we hold our writing to.
Sources
- We cite real, published sources and link to them where we can. We do not invent studies, quotes, authors or numbers.
- If we cannot find a source for a statement, we leave the statement out.
- A reference list is not proof that a claim is true. We describe what a source reports, not more.
Evidence is labeled
Every study we describe is marked as human, animal or lab-only (in vitro). A result in cells or animals does not show that the same thing happens in people, and we say so. Article write-ups carry a “Study at a glance” box giving the study type, who or what was studied, its size and length, the main finding and its limits.
Limits and unknowns
Every compound profile lists the limits of the studies it describes and has a section on what is not known. Where evidence is thin, early or disputed, we write that plainly rather than softening it.
What we do not do
- We do not give medical advice, diagnose, or recommend that anyone use a compound.
- We do not provide dosing instructions or tell readers how to administer anything.
- We do not make claims that a compound treats, cures or prevents a condition.
- We do not sell compounds.
Regulatory status
Profiles state where a compound stands with regulators, for example whether it is approved for a specific use, investigational, or not approved. We try to keep this current, but regulations change and you should check the regulator's own information for the latest position.
How a profile is published
Profiles and articles move through draft, review and published stages. Only published pages appear in the compound index, in search and in the site's feeds.
Commercial relationships
Some links on Aminodex are affiliate links, and the owner of Aminodex operates two of the suppliers that may be listed. These relationships are disclosed on our Disclosures page and next to the listings themselves. They do not change what a profile says about the evidence. We will remove a supplier listing if it stops meeting the standards on our supplier page.
Corrections
We make mistakes, and research moves quickly. If you find an error or a newer source, please tell us through the contact page and include the page address and, if you can, a link to the source. We correct errors when we confirm them.
